TEC-Feature: Driver Channel Splitting
Meerstetter Engineering's paid feature, Driver Channel Splitting, significantly increases the flexibility and functionality of all TEC Controllers from Meerstetter Engineering. This advanced feature allows you to convert a single bipolar output channel into two separate unipolar outputs. Unipolar means the output stage delivers only positive current, which leads to, depending on your wiring, heating only or cooling only.
By doing so, you maximize the utilization of your TEC Controller without the need for additional hardware. This not only saves space but also reduces costs. With a 2-channel TEC controller, for example, it's possible to control the temperature of three (1x bipolar, 2x unipolar) or four (4x unipolar) samples/objects. Find out more in the chapter “Operating Modes & Parallel Operation” in the TEC-Family User Manual (see "Related Downloads").
When purchasing a new TEC Controller from Meerstetter Engineering (or after loading FW v6.20 into an older one), all features are free for trial for the first 150 operating hours. Licenses can be obtained from Meerstetter Engineering by leaving a comment in the RFQ or order for a TEC Controller, or by contacting the sales team directly. Please make sure you provide the following information: the serial number and TEC Controller type (S/N _____ and TEC-XXXX).
Please note: The TEC Configuration Software is free of charge. Only certain advanced features such as Driver Channel Splitting require a license after the free trial period.

Detailed Description
Driver Channel Splitting is an advanced feature that allows the use of bipolar output channels of Meerstetter Engineering TEC Controllers to be split into two independent unipolar channels, offering greater control and flexibility in thermal systems.
This feature is particularly useful in systems where some components are required to be driven only in one direction, like heating only or cooling only. Splitting a bipolar channel into two separate, independent unipolar channels reduces the need for multiple controllers, saving space and cost while streamlining the system.Additionally, Driver Channel Splitting improves energy efficiency. By splitting a bipolar output into two unipolar channels, the system uses power more effectively, resulting in optimized overall performance. This is especially beneficial for compact systems where space and power are limited.
In summary, Driver Channel Splitting enhances flexibility, reduces system complexity, and improves efficiency, making it an essential feature for advanced thermal regulation in modern applications.
Price model - License handling
- By purchasing a new TEC Controller from Meerstetter Engineering (or after loading FW v6.20 into an older one), all features are free for trial for the first 150 operating hours.
- If you need more testing hours, ask us for a prolonged trial license.
- After the trial period, the feature can be permanently unlocked by loading a license key into the device.
- Licenses can be obtained from Meerstetter Engineering by leaving a comment in the RFQ or order for a TEC Controller, or by contacting the sales team directly.
- New devices ordered with specific feature(s): The license is already installed on new TEC Controllers.
- License ordered for an existing device at the customer: The license is an alphanumeric string that is sent by e-mail and must be copied into the “Key” field (in the TEC Configuration Software: Tab “View” -> “License”) for each device separately. Pay close attention to the license status and if the expected feature is enabled after loading the license (further down in the “License” window). If the license does not match the device, it will not work.
Be aware that the license is only valid for a specific device. Therefore, please make sure you provide the correct information: the serial number and TEC Controller type (TEC-XXXX).
