Detailed Description | LDD-1303 | Laser Diode Driver
The LDD-1303 is a current source designed to precision-drive Laser diodes in continuous wave applications. Its power converter topology (buck-boost) allows for an output voltage smaller, equal, or larger than the input voltage. This enables the LDD to drive Laser diodes with up to 120 V compliance voltage from a single 48 V power supply. The LDD-1303 offers various safety features, including two inputs for Laser diode temperature monitoring.
The device can be fully digitally controlled, the firmware is upgradeable and various digital communications interfaces are available. A 0 - 10 V analog Input as well as a 0 - 10 V analog output are integrated. Additionally, Light Power Control using a photodiode is possible using the on-board amplifier.
The LDD-1303 has been developed as a CW Laser diode driver but can also be used as a pulsed driver (350 µs). In series even higher output voltages can be achieved.
Pay-for software features
From firmware version ≥ 2.21, the Meerstetter laser diode drivers LDD-1301 and LDD-1303 offer optional, pay-for software features that make the laser diode driver even more versatile. Try all features free of charge for the first 150 operation hours and then order from the specific feature product pages.
Please note: The PC Software itself is always free of charge. Only a few advanced features within the software require a license after the first 150 operating hours of the laser diode driver (not of the software).

Paid features for Laser Diode Drivers (optional)
- Light Power Control (LPC): Control of the optical output power instead of the current: The laser diode output power is measured and controlled using a photodiode.
- Feedforward Control: Combination of feedback and Feedforward Control: This function compensates for non-linear effects and load fluctuations and thus improves the control quality, especially with rapid load changes.
