Microcontroller Lead Times Increase: Early Planning Recommended

Some electronic components are becoming scarce. To secure supply and pricing, we recommend covering 75% of your demand through February 2027 via a framework agreement NOW.

Market Situation Update

The electronic components market is showing renewed signs of tightening supply conditions. In particular, lead times for several widely used microcontroller families have increased significantly, while component pricing has become more volatile.

We observe, in line with recent market reports, extended replenishment times for selected STM32 microcontrollers and other high-volume industrial devices.

Unlike the semiconductor shortages experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, we do not currently expect a complete production shutdown. Components remain available, but longer lead times, limited allocation, and price fluctuations can make procurement planning more challenging.

To help ensure supply continuity and price stability, Meerstetter Engineering recommends that customers secure approximately 75% of their expected demand through February 2027. Framework agreements with scheduled deliveries provide a practical way to minimize supply chain risk while maintaining purchasing flexibility.

Our Recommendation

  • Order approximately 75% of your expected demand through February 2027 and
  • establish a framework agreement to improve supply security and pricing stability.
