PCN: New TEC Controller Firmware Update v6.20 and Release of Pay-for Software Features

From April 28, 2025, we will send all our new offers and order confirmations for TEC Controllers (and the resulting devices) with firmware version 6.20 by default.

Existing order confirmations with different versions as well as your existing specific customer requests will remain valid.

Would you like an older firmware version for your TEC Controller? Then just note your firmware requirement in the RFQ/order or get in touch with our sales team.

Please note: A downgrade from FW v6.xx to FW v5.xx is only possible with a TeamViewer session and remote access.

The most important innovations of TEC Controller firmware v6.20

  • Counter for operating hours and output energy: This new information can be found in the TEC Configuration Software under the “System” window.
  • Low-resolution input: The low-pass filter factor can be changed via the TEC Configuration Software.
  • Various improvements and bug fixes for the firmware and for the TEC Configuration Software.
  • Introduction of advanced software features: Starting with this firmware version, we offer advanced features that will make our TEC Controllers even more powerful – on demand and upon additional fee. You can test all features on any TEC Controller with FW v6.20 free of charge for the first 150 operating hours. If you are convinced a certain feature brings you a significant advantage, you can purchase individual features permanently. Read more about the individual features in the next paragraph.

More information on the firmware update and the improvements can be found in the TEC Software Release Notes (PDF) and in the TEC-Family User Manual (PDF).

The new additional pay-for software features for the Meerstetter TEC Controllers

Square Signal
  • Driver Channel Splitting
A bipolar output channel can be converted into two independent unipolar channels. This way, you can double the number of output channels in systems where only positive current is required (like heat only, or cool only). Depending on the setup, this saves space and costs. With a 2-channel TEC Controller, for example, you can control the temperature of three samples (1x bipolar, 2x unipolar) or four samples (4x unipolar) simultaneously. Find out more on the product page.
  • Temperature Estimator
The physical temperature measurement of a sample to be temperature controlled can be replaced by an estimated value using a thermal model. This saves you the application of complex and invasive sensors as well as leads to a better overall performance in maintaining the desired sample temperature. Read more on the product page.
  • Cascade Temperature Control
This improved control algorithm allows you to achieve faster sample temperature control processes by over- and undershooting the driving temperature gradient on demand. Further information can be found on the product page.
