The United States of America recently imposed a 39% import tariff on goods originating from Switzerland. We fully understand the significance of this new situation for us and in particular for you, as our most valued US customers.
Please be assured: We will not leave you, as our US customers, alone in this new situation. At Meerstetter Engineering, we are actively working on a sustainable solution to mitigate this impact.
Here are our thoughts:
- Relocating parts of our value chain to the United States (reshoring), and/or
- Establishing a U.S.-based subsidiary to serve you in the US directly.
While these steps may involve some efficiency losses on our side, our goal remains to ensure that any additional costs you may incur are minimized and well within the legal framework of the new US tariff regulation. We also aim to further enhance the high-level technical and sales support you already know — whether from Switzerland or, if feasible, also directly from within the U.S. in the future.
Please note that we are currently not in a position to completely alleviate the extra costs imposed, but we are working hard on solutions to reduce the burden. We kindly ask for your patience as we finalize our plans. We will update you shortly with a well-thought-out plan on how we will move forward together.
